Chicken News

During heavier snowfall that we had this Winter, 2 of our 4 chickens were taken in the night by a mysterious predator. Recently however, Michelle found a stray chicken that had been abandoned when a nearby home's residents moved out, and they could not catch her. Poquita had been living wild for a couple months, so we brought her home. Our current chickens were not kind to her at all. We were concerned about them hurting her, but after a few days the attacks became less frequent. Now, going on 2 weeks together, they are getting along almost civilly. And we now get 3 different egg types.

Jered's Rube Goldberg Device

This is Jered and his Rube Goldberg Device, that he designed and I helped him create for his science class. First marble knocks over a lever, releasing a weighted lever that has a match attached to it. The match strikes against sandpaper and then ignites. The fire burns a string, releasing a ramp with a second marble on it, which goes for a short ride before dropping down onto our homemade electrical switch. The switch allows power to turn the electric motor, which makes the bell ring. Good times.
